This Privacy Policy describes how Auto Video Subtitle Generator (package name com.starktech.subtitlegenerator, “the App”), published by Bdeb Technology (“we”, “us”), handles your information. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
1. What the App does
The App lets you pick a video from your device, automatically generates subtitles for its speech, lets you style, trim and colour-adjust the video, and exports a new video file with the subtitles burned in. Your videos are chosen by you and stay on your device; only the audio needed for transcription leaves the device, as described below.
2. Information we collect and share
2.1 Audio for transcription
When you tap “Add Subtitle”, the App extracts the audio track of the selected video and sends it over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to a speech-to-text provider so that subtitles can be generated. Depending on the configuration at the time, the provider is one of:
- Groq, Inc. (Whisper speech-to-text API) – groq.com/privacy-policy
- ElevenLabs, Inc. (Scribe speech-to-text API) – elevenlabs.io/privacy-policy
The audio is used solely to produce the transcript that is returned to your device. We do not store your audio or video on our own servers, and we do not use it for any other purpose. The providers process the audio under their own privacy policies. The video file itself is never uploaded.
2.2 Advertising data
The App shows advertisements served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device type and app usage information related to ads (impressions, clicks). You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of personalised ads in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads). Google’s practices are described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Some ads are optional “rewarded” ads that you choose to watch in exchange for an in-app benefit.
2.3 Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, App Check and Firestore) to understand how the App is used, to detect crashes and to deliver remote settings. This may include a pseudonymous app-instance ID, device model, operating system version, app version, country, session and event data, and crash stack traces. This data is aggregated and does not include your videos, audio or subtitles. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
2.4 Information we do not collect
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, e-mail address, phone number or contacts.
- We do not access your camera, microphone, precise location or SMS.
- Your projects, transcripts, styles and exported videos are stored only on your device.
3. Permissions
- Internet / network state – to send audio for transcription, load ads and fetch remote settings.
- Storage (Android 9 and below only) – to save the exported video to your gallery. On newer Android versions the App uses the system file picker and media store, which need no permission.
- Advertising ID – used by Google AdMob as described in section 2.2.
4. How we use information
- To provide the core feature: generating subtitles for your video.
- To show advertisements that keep the App free.
- To fix crashes, improve performance and understand which features are used.
- To apply daily usage limits and remote settings (for example maintenance notices or required updates).
5. Data retention
Audio sent for transcription is processed transiently and is not retained by us. Analytics and crash data are retained by Firebase according to Google’s retention settings (crash data up to 90 days; analytics up to 14 months). Advertising data is handled by Google AdMob under its own retention rules. Data stored on your device is deleted when you delete a project or uninstall the App.
6. Security
All network traffic from the App uses HTTPS encryption; the App does not permit unencrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
7. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights and choices
- Reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in Android Settings → Google → Ads.
- Delete all local data by removing projects in the App or uninstalling it.
- Ask us questions about, or request deletion of, any data related to you by e-mailing the address below.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK under GDPR, or India under the DPDP Act 2023) you may have additional rights of access, correction and erasure. We will honour such requests as required by law.
9. Third-party links
Ads and links inside the App may take you to third-party websites or apps. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this page, and material changes will also be shown inside the App.
